Power and gas prices ended the week higher overall, with gains largely driven by concerns over the potential impact of sanctions and secondary tariffs on Russia, following President Trump’s decision to bring forward the ceasefire deadline to 8 August. However, stable supply fundamentals and the announcement of US tariffs on over 90 countries that failed to reach trade agreements by the deadline led to a pullback in prices on Friday, trimming a significant portion of the week’s earlier gains and resulting in a more modest weekly increase.
